Growing up in Statesboro, Georgia, I was always inspired by the remarkable contributions of two extraordinary individuals, Ernest and George Jackson. These African American trailblazers were not just brick masons; they were master builders who laid the foundation for many homes and businesses in our community. Their dedication to their craft and their commitment to quality made a lasting impact, shaping the very landscape of Statesboro and enriching the lives of countless families.

The work of Ernest and George Jackson extends beyond simple construction; it represents resilience, determination, and a celebration of African American heritage. Despite facing myriad challenges due to racial barriers and inequality, they persevered, creating a legacy that continues to inspire generations. To honor their memories and ensure their legacy is never forgotten, I propose renaming Garfield Street to Jackson Way.
