In February of this year, Dundee Middle School and the Dundee Township community lost a beloved teacher in Matthew D. Bishop.  Mr. Bishop was a teacher at DMS for 12 years and had attended DMS himself as a student.  Mr. Bishop was a wonderful teacher and colleague, bringing the joy of music and laughter to everyone he ever came in contact with.  In addition to his activities with music and the arts, he was dedicated to a majority of extracurricular activities around the school throughout the year.  

Mr. Bishop's legacy could be forever cemented within our community if Dundee Middle School was renamed in his honor.  Few had Cardunal Pride the way Mr. Bishop did, and his 12 years as an educator have had an impact on our community that will ripple over for decades.  Communities should never forget where they come from, and Mr. Bishop is someone who should never be forgotten because of his values and the legacy he left.  

Time will go on and our loss will ease with time.  Mr. Bishop's legacy, however, absolutely deserves this honor for the lives he touched as an educator.  Cardunals past, present and future will always be able to see his example as a guiding light of how to conduct yourself as a student and as a fellow human.  We can only hope that another one like him comes along again.
