Bryce Andrew Gerlach was more than a standout football player for Corydon Central High school; he was a beacon of courage, valor, and sportsmanship. He held a 4.5-star rating for kicking and was #1 in Indiana for punt when he tragically passed away. His grand stature in football was not only ranked #22 nationally, but was also evident in the Sportsmanship Award he deservedly won after the Corydon-Scottsburg game. 

Yet, Bryce was more than his statistics. He was a beloved son, grandson, friend, brother, and boyfriend, tragically dying whilst protecting the one he loved at a harvest homecoming. He was a committed student, who always maintained a positive attitude and stayed focused on his goals. 

Honoring Bryce Andrew Gerlach by renaming the football field at Corydon Central High School in his memory will ensure that his legacy continues to inspire future generations of students and athletes. His name on the field will serve as a permanent reminder of a true hero, embodying the spirit of bravery, leadership, sportsmanship, and love that are integral to our community’s values.
