The Issue

In the state of Nevada, the concept of fairness in business is being challenged by a system within our DMV. As a professional in the document preparation industry, I have experienced firsthand the disadvantages caused by the 'Legacy' appointment system. This system grants certain companies in Nevada up to 35 appointments a week with the DMV, while others have zero and must compete in an alternate queuing system. This inequitable distribution results in some companies having a HUGE advantage in the marketplace.

The impact of these 'Legacy' appointments is considerable. Companies fortunate enough to benefit from this system have unfair privileged access to the DMV, creating a marketplace where the odds are unfairly stacked in their favor. Meanwhile, companies without these appointments face significant challenges just to keep up, and often cannot offer the same level of service to their clients.

The fundamental principle of any government agency, including the DMV, should be to provide equal access to all. This preferential treatment not only skews market competition but also contradicts the idea of government impartiality—it fosters an environment where the success of businesses is dictated not by their merit or efficiency, but by their access to privileged resources.

Eliminating these appointments is a crucial step towards creating fairness within Nevada's DMV system. By removing 'Legacy' appointments, we can ensure all document preparation companies have equal opportunity to serve their clients effectively.

Join me in urging the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Governor’s Office to reconsider and eliminate the 'Legacy' appointment system. By signing this petition, we advocate for a system where all businesses are on an equal footing, ensuring fair competition and equal access for all in Nevada.
