Remove underage and unlicensed use of Scrambler bikes, e scooters and e bikefrom our roads
The Issue
The tragic loss of Grace has shaken many communites deeply, leaving us determined to prevent such a heartbreaking incident from occurring again. Grace Lynch, an innocent teenager with a life ahead of her, lost her life due to the reckless use of a vehicle operated without the proper licensing and oversight. As a grieving community, we feel an urgent responsibility to address the menace of underaged and unlicensed use of scrambler bikes, e-scooters, and e-bikes on our roads.
These vehicles, while convenient and fun, present a significant danger when operated illegally. Young people driving without licenses lack the necessary skills and experience to handle them safely, endangering not only themselves but also pedestrians and other road users. According to road safety statistics, a significant proportion of accidents involving scrambler bikes, e-scooters, and e-bikes occur due to unlicensed and reckless driving (source: Local Road Safety Reports 2023).
To mitigate these risks, we propose strict enforcement of existing traffic laws, alongside increased awareness campaigns to educate both parents and youths about the dangers of underage and unlicensed driving. Law enforcement agencies should collaborate closely with local communities to identify and address illegal vehicle use effectively. Moreover, implementing routine road checks and increasing signage around schools and neighborhoods could serve as effective deterrents.
By removing these unlicensed vehicles from our roads, together we can create a safer environment for all our children. We urge the local government to prioritize this issue, implement stricter regulations, and dedicate resources to maintaining safe streets.
Please sign this petition and share to join us in making our communities safer for every child, preventing further tragedies like the loss of Grace. Together, we can make an impactful difference.
