The recent arrest of Uhland Mayor Lacee Duke on allegations involving the misapplication of fiduciary duty has raised serious concerns about the integrity of our local government. While everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty, an arrest of this nature undermines public trust and confidence in city leadership.

Because the mayor oversees taxpayer funds and plays a central role in financial decisions, it is not in the city’s best interest for someone facing financial-related charges to remain in office during ongoing legal proceedings.
