Remove the Tattoo Studio Ban in Whittier, CA

The Issue

I've dedicated my life to perfecting my craft as a professional tattoo artist, following all the rules and regulations to ensure a safe, high-quality service for my clients. Currently, I'm looking to build a successful tattoo business that I can be proud of and eventually leave as a legacy. Despite being in a commercially zoned area that permits alcohol licenses, I'm unable to open a tattoo studio in Whittier, CA, due to an outdated ban rooted in old-school mentality.

Tattooing has evolved significantly over the years, and today's licensed tattoo studios are highly regulated entities, complying with strict health and safety standards. These regulations ensure artists are properly licensed and trained in cross-contamination prevention and hygiene practices, safeguarding public health and safety.

Whittier's outdated ban stifles not only my business dreams but also limits the cultural and artistic growth of our community. Tattoo shops across the country contribute positively to local economies, attracting visitors, promoting local artists, and creating jobs. Isn't it time for Whittier to embrace this vibrant form of personal expression that is an integral part of our diverse culture?

I urge the city council and relevant authorities to reconsider this unnecessary ban. Allow licensed, health-compliant tattoo studios to operate legally in commercially zoned areas in Whittier, CA. Such a decision would not only benefit local businesses and entrepreneurs but it would also foster inclusivity and acceptance in our community.

If you believe in supporting local artists and modernizing outdated regulations, please sign this petition. Your support can bring about much-needed change, allowing businesses like mine to thrive and help Whittier grow into a more diverse and forward-thinking community.
