Remove the resort in Chocolate Hills, Philippines.

Remove the resort in Chocolate Hills, Philippines.
The Issue
This petition was started by Kim Dy, Zharina Icaonapo, Joshua Alignay, and Kier Bernardo with the intention of protecting one of the most distinctive and ecologically significant landscapes in the world for the enjoyment and appreciation of future generations.
The Philippines' Chocolate Hills are more than just a natural wonder; they represent the nation's natural history and cultural identity. These recognizable hills have long been a source of pride and fascination for both Filipinos and tourists, looking like chocolate kisses when the grass turns brown during the dry season. Establishing a resort in the middle of this natural wonder runs the risk of permanently changing its unspoiled beauty and ecological equilibrium. We are defending a treasured natural landmark and maintaining the authenticity of our environmental legacy for future generations by pushing for the resort to be removed from Chocolate Hills.
The fragile ecosystem that has developed over millions of years is in danger due to the construction of a resort in the Chocolate Hills. These hills support a wide variety of plants and animals, some of which may be indigenous or endangered. They are more than just geological formations. Infrastructure built by humans has the potential to damage ecosystems, sever paths for wildlife, and introduce pollutants that lower the quality of the water and soil. Our petition aims to preserve the Chocolate Hills as a refuge for biodiversity and ecological balance by shielding this delicate ecosystem from the irreversible harm that could come from unrestrained development.
Furthermore, maintaining the Chocolate Hills is necessary for both sustainable tourism and the region's economic growth, as well as to being a matter of environmental conservation. Because of the Chocolate Hills' attraction, tourists come from all over the world, and ecotourism projects help the local communities by generating income. But the addition of a resort runs the risk of losing this natural wonder's uniqueness and allure and turning it into just another packaged vacation spot. By calling for the resort to be demolished, we are supporting a more environmentally friendly form of tourism that respects the natural value of the area and helps out the locals in a way that is in line with the environment.
