The Issue

My 8-year-old son, who has Autism, attends Bennett Elementary School in Laughlin, NV. Our experience with the school principal, Mr. Moss, has been challenging and frustrating, particularly regarding my son's Individualized Education Program (IEP). Despite my son's clear need for a one-on-one aide, a necessity that educators and aids unanimously agree on, Mr. Moss has consistently obstructed our efforts to secure this essential support.

After going over Mr. Moss's head twice, we finally succeeded in getting the one-on-one aide our son desperately needs. However, Mr. Moss is retaliating by insisting he has the authority over who can work with our child, despite knowing that the current aide is a perfect fit for my son’s needs. This isn't just about my child – Mr. Moss's actions reflect a disregard for the needs of students requiring additional support.

Additionally, there is a need for Bennett Elementary to hire three more aides to ensure all children with special needs receive appropriate support. Mr. Moss's obstructionist approach and retaliatory actions are not in the best interests of the students, and it's clear he is not the right fit for our school community.

This cannot continue. We need leadership that is supportive, understanding, and committed to providing the best education for all students, regardless of their needs. We are calling for the removal of Mr. Moss from his position as principal to ensure a nurturing and inclusive environment at Bennett Elementary.

Sign this petition to demand action from the Clark County School District; it's time for a change at Bennett Elementary School for the sake of our children's future.
