Remove the Homeless Shelter Near Hilton Garden Inn to Ensure Neighborhood Safety
The Issue
As local residents and concerned citizens, we have the firsthand experience of watching our peaceful neighborhoods succumb to noticeable crime increase, primarily centered around the formerly known hotel, Gate Hotel JFK Airport Located at 13226 S Conduit Ave Jamaica NY, 11430, which is currently operating as a homeless shelter. Our vicinity to this shelter isn't just about being good neighbors - it's about the safety and wellness of our families and children who reside here.
Too often do we hear sirens from police and ambulance echoing through our streets disturbing our peace and injecting unease into our lives - all suspected from the activities happening within this shelter. There are hardworking individuals residing at the shelter, striving to progress beyond their circumstances, but an environment embroiled in crime impedes their progress and disrupts our peace.
We've come across numerous complaints and police reports suggesting the involvement of the shelter's management and security in unauthorized activities. We find it alarming that those in positions of care and stewardship could seemingly be part of the problem.
We believe that swift, decisive action is critically needed to ensure the tranquility, safety, and dignity of everyone in our neighborhood. Therefore, we demand the responsible entities to investigate these claims thoroughly, transparently, and without delay.
This is our neighborhood. This is our home. We deserve to feel safe and secure in our surroundings. We demand that the shelter be shut down until a thorough investigation can ascertain whether it is an asset or a threat to our community. We urge all residents and fellow citizens who value safety, peace, and community wellness to join us in this cause, for it is a dire necessity rather than a simple preference.
Sign this petition, let your voice be heard. Let's reclaim our peace of mind and the sanctity of our neighborhood.
