The GI Bill education benefits should never expire regardless of era. This is a contributory benefit because service members pay for it in their first year of service․ Veterans purchasing this benefit would have it in perpetuity․

Thousands of veterans of the Vietnam War‚ United States invasion of Panama‚ Iraq War‚ and War in Afghanistan have lost their GI Bill benefits due to these expiration deadlines․

Many veterans spent years of their post military lives building a career and raising a family; now they are empty nesters or retirement age and if they want to pursue further education‚ retrain for another job or take up another skill, they cannot. The benefits that they earned and paid in for have expired․

Education has no age limit‚ and neither should veterans' benefits․

We beseech Congress and the Department of Veterans Affairs to eliminate the expiration date on GI Bill education benefits for all veterans so that every veteran can have the FOREVER GI Bill․

They paid in and earned the life-time benefit through service; it should be available for life․
