Remove the bang from fireworks

The Issue

I love fireworks as much as anyone, but I dread any celebration involving them. My dog is absolutely terrified, requiring ear muffs to even slightly tolerate the unbearable, sudden explosions. Living next to a farm heightens my concerns. I see the fear ripple through the animals every time the loud bang pierces the night. It genuinely affects their well-being, and I can no longer stand by and watch innocent creatures suffer.

It's not just my dog and the farm animals that suffer—pets across the country, wildlife, and even humans with noise sensitivities, war veterans with PTSD, and young children often find the sounds of fireworks distressing and traumatic. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), more animals are reported missing on July 4th than any other day, largely due to the panic caused by fireworks.

While the visual spectacle of fireworks is undeniably beautiful, it's high time we consider alternatives that prioritize the safety and comfort of all living beings. Silent fireworks are an available option; they offer the stunning visual display without the disruptive and frightening noise. These fireworks could preserve our celebrations while also respecting the tranquil lives of animals and vulnerable individuals in our community.

Italy, in places like Collecchio, has already set a precedent by adopting silent fireworks as a mandatory practice during celebrations. If they can make this change for the better, so can we.

Join me in urging lawmakers and fireworks manufacturers to adopt and produce silent fireworks only. By signing this petition, you're advocating for a celebration that everyone can enjoy without fear or distress. Please sign to make a difference for our animals and community!
