In the aftermath of the passing of my beloved brother, our family hoped to find solace and respect during his homecoming service. Instead, our grief was compounded by the conduct of Reverend Terrence Gray, a representative of the AME church, who turned what should have been a solemn and respectful ceremony into a mockery. His behavior was not only disrespectful, but also disheartening, and far from what one would expect from a pastor who is supposed to provide comfort and spiritual guidance during such difficult times.

This individual has shown acts unbecoming of a pastoral figure, and this conduct cannot go unchecked. It is deeply troubling to imagine him continuing to represent the AME church at any event, program, or public engagement, where he might repeat such behavior and cause needless distress to other families and communities.

The AME church stands for dignity, compassion, and respect, values that should be upheld by all its representatives. Allowing Reverend Gray to continue to represent the church is a stain on these values and a disservice to congregations and communities who deserve better. Therefore, I urge the AME Church hierarchy to immediately remove Reverend Terrence Gray from representing the church in any capacity.

Removing Reverend Gray from his duties in representing the church will not only uphold the integrity and values of the AME church but will also serve as a necessary step towards ensuring that pastoral care is synonymous with kindness, respect, and dignity.
