Raigars need to re-establish their identity to glorify their history by lefting their SC reservation. It is a high time to get Regar/Raigar caste free from Scheduled caste (Untouchables) status. In the historical documents(Census of India) , there’s no mention of Raigar caste as a lower caste. Instead it is mentioned as a upper caste.

Why are we categorized as scheduled caste when we were not lower caste before independence.

According to Constitution of India, Regar caste has been declared as a Scheduled caste and is categorised as an ethnic group of Chamar/Jatav caste.

But this is not true, It is historically proven that Regar origin was originally from Raghuvanshi Kshatriyas and Belonged to Rajputana.

According to census of india 1901, 1911 and 1921, Raigar belonged to Rajputana.

There’s no mention of Raigar/Regar caste in the Scheduled Caste list of Government of India,1936

The question is, Then how government suddenly listed the Raigar caste as a Scheduled Caste in Census of India,1951 without any evidence and destroyed the caste status?

We, the people of Raigar caste our not aware of our history. We call ourselves Kshatriya Rajput but the fact is the caste on government document is mentioned as an untouchable scheduled caste. 

Why are we calling Ourselves Scheduled caste when our history belongs to Rajputana

The category of varna, the four-fold ritual ranking system of Vedic Hinduism, was included in the official classification of caste. 

There are four classes:

• The Brahmins (priestly people),
• The Kshatriyas (rulers, administrators and warriors; also called Rajanyas),
• The Vaishyas (artisans, merchants, tradesmen and farmers), and 
• The Shudras (labouring classes)
• The varna categorisation implicitly includes a fifth element, those deemed to be entirely outside its scope, such as tribal people and the untouchables (Dalits).

1. According to Census of India 1891, Rehgar caste was categorised (which is now known as Regar/Raigar) under Class V ARTISANS( page 196) in Group 11 (Salt and Lime workers, page 197) as Rehgar.

Whereas, Chamar Caste is separately mentioned under Class VII ( page 199).

2. According to Census of India 1901, even here Regar/ Rehgar/ Raigar Caste and Chamar /Jatav are seperately mentioned in 1901 Census of India.

For Regar/ Rehgar/ Raigar Caste refer to page 343-344 and for Chamar caste refer to page 320.

3. Similarly, According to Census of India 1911 (page ) and Census of India 1921 (page 158), Raigar/ Regar belongs to Rajputana.

Even here Regar/ Rehgar/ Raigar Caste and Chamar /Jatav are seperately mentioned.

4. In Census of India, 1931, a combined caste list of selected caste was presented.

5. In 1936, The official Scheduled caste (lower caste) list was presented by the Government of India in which there is no mention of Raigar/Regar caste.
Therefore Raigar caste was not a scheduled caste.

6. No census of India was presented in 1941 due to second world war.

7. After Independence of India, Suddenly Regar/Raigar caste got mentioned in Scheduled Caste in Census of India 1951.

8. As the years passed, the Regar caste got categorised under Chamar/Jatav category as their ethnic group. Nobody checked the history, where the caste was originally categorised in.

Why are Regars using Scheduled caste Reservation and degrading their own caste when they are not one?

Now it is a high time, Raigars need to re-establish their identity of kshatriya to glorify their history by lefting their SC reservation. 
It is a high time to get Regar/Raigar caste free from Scheduled caste status.

It is important for us to request government to include our caste either into Kshatriya or Vaishyas. Regar historically belongs to Raghuvanshi kshatriya and during British era, they classified the caste as Vaishya.

Just to enjoy few benefits of Scheduled Caste, we have destroyed and degrading our caste status and history.

We can request for Other backward caste Reservation by leaving Scheduled caste reservation.

रैगरों को एससी आरक्षण छोड़कर अपने इतिहास को गौरवान्वित करने के लिए अपनी पहचान फिर से स्थापित करने की जरूरत है। रैगर/रैगर जाति को अनुसूचित जाति (अछूत) के दर्जे से मुक्त कराने का यह उचित समय है। ऐतिहासिक दस्तावेजों (भारत की जनगणना) में, रैगर जाति का निचली जाति के रूप में कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। इसके स्थान पर इसका उल्लेख ऊंची जाति के रूप में किया गया है।

सवाल यह है कि फिर सरकार ने बिना किसी सबूत के अचानक रैगर जाति को भारत की जनगणना, 1951 में अनुसूचित जाति के रूप में कैसे सूचीबद्ध कर दिया और जाति की स्थिति को नष्ट कर दिया?

हम रैगर जाति के लोग अपने इतिहास से परिचित नहीं हैं। हम खुद को क्षत्रिय राजपूत कहते हैं लेकिन तथ्य यह है कि सरकारी दस्तावेज़ पर जाति को अछूत अनुसूचित जाति के रूप में वर्णित किया गया है।

हम अपने आप को अनुसूचित जाति क्यों कह रहे हैं जबकि हमारा इतिहास राजपूताना का है।

वर्ण की श्रेणी, वैदिक हिंदू धर्म की चार गुना अनुष्ठान रैंकिंग प्रणाली, को जाति के आधिकारिक वर्गीकरण में शामिल किया गया था।

चार वर्ग हैं

• ब्राह्मण (पुरोहित लोग),
• क्षत्रिय (शासक, प्रशासक और योद्धा; जिन्हें राजन्य भी कहा जाता है),
• वैश्य (कारीगर, व्यापारी, व्यापारी और किसान), और
• शूद्र (श्रमिक वर्ग)
  वर्ण वर्गीकरण में स्पष्ट रूप से एक
• पाँचवाँ तत्व शामिल है, जो पूरी तरह से इसके दायरे से बाहर माना जाता है, जैसे कि आदिवासी लोग और अछूत (दलित)।

4. भारत की जनगणना, 1931 में चयनित जातियों की एक संयुक्त जाति सूची प्रस्तुत की गई।

5. 1936 में भारत सरकार द्वारा आधिकारिक अनुसूचित जाति (निचली जाति) सूची प्रस्तुत की गई जिसमें रैगर/रैगर जाति का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है।
अतः रैगर जाति अनुसूचित जाति नहीं थी।

6. द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के कारण 1941 में भारत की कोई जनगणना प्रस्तुत नहीं की गई।

7. भारत की आजादी के बाद 1951 की जनगणना में अचानक रैगर/रैगर जाति का उल्लेख अनुसूचित जाति में हो गया।

8. जैसे-जैसे साल बीतते गए, रैगर जाति को उनके जातीय समूह के रूप में चमार/जाटव श्रेणी में वर्गीकृत किया गया। किसी ने उस इतिहास की जाँच नहीं की, जहाँ जाति को मूल रूप से वर्गीकृत किया गया था।

रैगर अनुसूचित जाति आरक्षण का उपयोग क्यों कर रहे हैं और अपनी जाति को अपमानित क्यों कर रहे हैं जबकि वे एक नहीं हैं?

अब समय आ गया है कि रैगरों को एससी आरक्षण छोड़कर अपने इतिहास को गौरवान्वित करने के लिए क्षत्रिय की अपनी पहचान को फिर से स्थापित करना होगा।

अब समय आ गया है कि रैगर/रैगर जाति को अनुसूचित जाति के दर्जे से मुक्त कराया जाये।
हमारे लिए यह महत्वपूर्ण है कि हम सरकार से हमारी जाति को क्षत्रिय या वैश्य में शामिल करने का अनुरोध करें। रैगर ऐतिहासिक रूप से रघुवंशी क्षत्रिय से संबंधित है और ब्रिटिश काल के दौरान, उन्होंने जाति को वैश्य के रूप में वर्गीकृत किया था।

अनुसूचित जाति के कुछ लाभों का आनंद लेने के लिए, हमने अपनी जाति की स्थिति और इतिहास को नष्ट और अपमानित किया है।

हम अनुसूचित जाति आरक्षण को छोड़कर अन्य पिछड़ी जाति आरक्षण के लिए अनुरोध कर सकते हैं।

हमारे लिए अपना जातीय सम्मान वापस पाना जरूरी है.'
