Remove Property Tax for Primary Homes in Crittenden County Arkansas

The Issue

Like many of you, this issue is deeply personal to me. I have always believed that you cannot tax a right, a right to live, poop, and play at your home without being threaten a tax foreclosure. The Bill of Rights expanded on the idea of unalienable rights by listing rights that the government cannot violate.  THe BILL OF RIGHT DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE says our rights are UNLIENABLE. That life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness to secure the citizen rights. The ad valorem tax, considered an indirect or voluntary tax, infringes upon this principle. If there is no business being ran on the property then what exactly are the treasurer of the counties assessing! There is a false perception that the tax are for the schools, the roads, the ambulance etc, this is a lie. The schools are financed or funded by the States. We can always tell the ambulance which address to come to. We should put deeds in the county ONLY to show who is the primary owner not to be taxed on our personal private property! My belief extends to the way counties assess the value of primary homes for tax purposes, oftentimes taking a fraudulent stance. These assessments never get reported to the Internal Revenue Service.

Further complicating the situation is the false assignment of market value to these primary residences. We must understand, these homes are not commodities on the open market, they are places of habitation, places that shelter families and facilitate livelihoods. It is, therefore, erroneous to assign them market values like they're just another product for sale.

Additionally, the county lays a APN on the land we purchase and this represent another complex layer of this issue. The ownership of land is burdened by these yearly fake assessments and APN aka assessor parcel number putting citizens at an uncomfortable and disadvantageous position concerning home ownership. This predicament can contribute to the cycle of homelessness, which is both a social and economic issue in our society. Such actions are not only morally reprehensible but also operate counterintuitive to the fundamental principles of homeownership.

According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness (2019), over 567,000 individuals were homeless on a given night in the United States. The number is growing, and some percentage of it directly ties back to the unfair pressure placed on homeowners through property taxes. Let us stand together and bring about a meaningful and necessary change, not just for us, but for future generations. Eliminate property tax on primary homes! Let us no longer punish the basic human right to shelter. Sign this petition today and advocate for a fair and just implementation of taxation.

The lawmakers need to come up with an alternative tax to run the county, maybe a consumption tax or some other form of tax.

Property tax has long been a burden for homeowners, greatly impacting those trying to maintain a primary residence within their means. In Marion, AR, like most places in the U.S., homeowners are required to pay property tax, which can act as an obstacle for those attempting to sustain affordable housing. It remains a heavy financial concern for many citizens, while their primary houses should be considered personal safeguard and not an income-generating asset. Thus, we urge our city's local government to eliminate property tax on primary residences. Doing so will provide a multitude of benefits including improving financial security for homeowners and encouraging home ownership, thereby fostering community stability and growth.
