After my mother had something wrong with her eye I drove her to the hospital to get it checked out. My mother’s eye was in so much pain that when light hit it or she moved it wrong it hurt so I put a blindfold on her and pushed her in a wheel chair, checked her in then gave her to the nurse so I could go park the truck as I was parked in the emergency parking for the ambulance’s so she didn’t have to walk far blindfolded. I came back inside from parking the truck and went to go sit with my mom in her room but then Dr. Pillay told me to sit in a random chair that was pretty much in the middle of the emergency room, I then asked the nurse if I had to sit there or if I’m allowed to see my mom and she had no problem with me sitting with my mom only Dr. Pillay did. Once Dr. Pillay arrived to assess my mother everything was fine until my mom swore because of the pain she was in as a natural reaction to pain for her, after doing so Dr. Pillay raised his voice and said he “will be refusing care if you keep swearing at me” and so my mom explained that’s she wasn’t swearing towards him just as a natural reaction for pain and she is sorry she will try not to swear. Once it is time to bring the light in to look in her eye it was hard for her to keep her eye open because of the light hurting it so she was flinching and accidentally let out another swear then apologized right after he seemed to be getting annoyed or fed up with his patient when he says “we won’t be able to do this if you can’t keep your eye open, I will have to send you to Prince George or something because im not dealing with this” and then continued to point in my mothers face and said she has 5 minutes to decide what she wants do to. Dr. Pillay comes back after a bit and keeps cutting my mother off when she’s trying to explain herself and work past this as he is being paid from our taxes and technically is our employee. While Dr. Pillay is being disrespectful and refusing care he notices that I’m videoing the situation and comes at me. Dr. Pillay called the RCMP on a 20 year old that drove his 50 year old mother to the hospital for a eye injury because she was in so much pain her reactions to pain caused the doctor to have a fit and blow up at his patients. Once the RCMP arrived the video I had taken was reviewed by the police and the doctor had to finish treating my mother. I would like this doctor to be reviewed or removed from the Vanderhoof hospital so no more locals have to go through what my mother and I had to go through!
