The Issue

I am writing this petition with a deep sense of concern and urgency. My personal experience directly involves Minister Nyesom Wike, currently serving as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. In a shocking encounter, I witnessed Minister Wike accost and insult a uniformed military officer. Such a reckless act not only disrespects our armed forces but also poses a risk of escalating tensions, potentially leading to a more significant crisis.

This incident is part of a troubling pattern. Over recent months, there have been numerous reports of Minister Wike's aggressive actions in the FCT. It is alleged that he has been harassing, intimidating, and indiscriminately grabbing lands belonging to the residents of Abuja. His heavy-handed approach is creating fear and unrest among the community.

The office of the Minister of the FCT should be a symbol of fairness, growth, and protection of the rights of its citizens. However, Minister Wike's apparent misuse of power is antithetical to these values. Abuja's residents deserve leadership that listens, respects, and acts in the public's best interest, rather than fueling conflict and fear.

Statistics and testimonies from various residents corroborate these troubling actions. If unchecked, such behavior can foster a culture of impunity and lawlessness, which no city should endure. According to recent reports, residents feel that their voices are overshadowed by the Minister's arbitrary actions, and rightful land ownership is at risk.

I urge President Tinubu to take immediate action. Minister Wike should be removed from his current position or redeployed to another ministry where his actions can be monitored more closely. This is critical to re-establish trust between the leadership and the citizens and ensure the stability and peace of Abuja.

The time to act is now. Please join me in signing this petition to call for decisive action from President Tinubu to address our concerns and to secure the future of Abuja's residents from further intimidation and unlawful actions.
