At the University of Maryland, our only way to register for classes and view our official schedules is through Testudo, an antiquated system that is barely functional. Most notably, it has operating hours, and students can only modify or even view their schedules or registration information between the hours of 7:30 am - 11:00 pm Mon - Sat and 5:30 pm - 11:00 pm on Sundays. While there may have been a time when such a system made sense, it is astonishing that in 2024, a university the size ours still relies on something like this.

This restricted access severely limits our ability to plan our academic schedules effectively, especially for those of us with commitments outside of typical operating hours. The current system fails to recognize the diverse needs and schedules of today's students, hindering everyone's academic success and overall college experience.

It's time for change. We demand that the University of Maryland modernizes Testudo to provide a user friendly system with round-the-clock access to class schedules and registration, ensuring that all students have equal opportunity and flexibility in managing their academic pursuits.
