Murad Merali was exposed last year for saying extreme racial slurs during sex work that was exposed. Now I know we have heard his side of the story and he addressed some of the allegations but evaded others.

Firstly race play affects queer men of colour differently because it results in the queer community hyper-sexualising, hyper-masculinising (which can lead to transphobia) and dehumanises many queer men of colour who just want to exist with dignity in queer spaces.

We then have tweets that suggest Murad uploaded this footage without the consent of the other party and this is why his first onlyfans was deleted for violating the rules. This is extremely concerning given that queer people of colour are very vulnerable in any part of the world and are often an easy target for exploitation when they are closeted due to homophobia in their communities exposing them to further harm. 

Murad has also joined in on the bullying and harassment of a Black woman by the name of Lani Good when she faced an barrage of abuse for the way she handled being a victim in a rather abusive relationship. Murad with his large platform played a vital role. 

The creative industry already has an issue with men who use their status and influence to silence victims and carry out harmful behaviour and taking on Murad will only encourage him further.

Finally as a Black person it's contradictory of Netflix to dedicate films to Black people yet take someone on who reduces racial slurs to just a "kink" and begs the question of your integrity and dedication to inclusion if you're aware of this.
