Help us get heard. Countless parents over countless years have watched their children suffer and be bullied by a at Elementary under the name of . . This is just an excerpt from an email I sent as a concerned parent trying to get my child switched out of this class. The principal has refused to reassign to a new . I have spoken to numerous parents about their experiences with this and there is nothing positive to say, verbal abuse and mistreatment dates back over 15 years now . 

   Exerpt from email to Elementary principal:

 

 The disciplinary actions below taken by . should not be implemented with approval or no approval. These are children, students, not adult prison inmates.

 

1. Punishing all students for the behavior of one does not solve problems. Individual students who act out in class should be talked to individually or sent to the counselor's office or principal if the does not have the time or handle on the situation. The class as a whole even students working diligently are reprimanded in this classroom by being yelled at, held in for recess and on occasions released late for lunch leaving only minutes for students to eat. Being hungry affects academic performance and if you are keeping children from eating, also denying or purposely limiting students the lunch break they are by federal and state law entitled to during school hours is illegal. 

 

2. The school ends at 2:15 so keeping children in the classroom against their will after the school day due to punishment for behavior must be cleared by an above authority prior to implementation of said "detention" or Time spent at school after school hours. Even then detentions need to be approved and parents made aware of scheduled time on school after hours before implementation. This excessive time of students being held after school hours without any approval or parent notification is not legal. Parents either pick up or arrange rides for students based on the hours of the school's operation. Holding students past these hours causes parents or carpool rides to wait longer than necessary resulting in parents being late for work, appointments, sports practices etc. 

 

3. The school holds a zero tolerance policy for bullying. Verbal or physical abuse is not tolerated or accepted. This policy applies to all on campus including . When a using profanity such as what the fuck toward a student or students it is unacceptable. When a also tells a young adolescent that if they would just shut up they would be smarter, also unacceptable. If a is excessively yelling at the class or individual students that is verbal assault and should also be unacceptable. Students see as someone they trust. being in this position of higher authority & power should not use students' trust in their authority to implement these types of borderline abusive, threatening, aggressive discipline. The students know the is the authority within the classroom, they as 9 and 10 year olds trust that this is acceptable behavior and treatment as it comes from their . This teaching disciplinary style is teaching students that this type of treatment is acceptable if it comes from an adult in a position of authority who they are supposed to trust. This is bullying in an adult by an adult in a position of authority abusing their power over students. 

 

Due to these conditions and hostile classroom environment and aggression from the I know my daughter will not thrive in this classroom setting or under the instruction of . . I do not want to subject my child to this type of or put in the position to be bullied by an adult who is supposed to teach , who innocently trusts without question because  is a . 

 

Now how is this still a ? How is still teaching students? We need to speak up and speak up now. We must protect our keiki and any future keiki may have the chance to teach if continues to mistreat students and have it condoned by the school and the administration!
