Dear Mangaldai College Administration,

We, the students of B.Sc. Zoology Major, 3rd Semester, Mangaldai College, would like to bring to the attention of the concerned college authorities and faculty members an issue regarding the presence of some Minor Zoology students in the WhatsApp group created specifically for 3rd Semester Major Zoology students.
There are already separate WhatsApp groups for Major and Minor Zoology students. The purpose of maintaining separate groups is to ensure that students receive information, notices, study materials, academic discussions, practical-related information, examination updates and other communications relevant to their respective courses. However, despite the existence of separate groups, some students pursuing Zoology as a Minor subject continue to remain members of the Major Zoology WhatsApp group.
This situation has become a concern among the Major Zoology students because the Major course has a different academic structure and includes Major-specific requirements and information. Major students may discuss internal academic matters, assignments, practical work, examinations, class-related issues, study materials and other information that is intended specifically for students pursuing Zoology as their Major subject.
The presence of students who are not part of the Major course can create confusion regarding the intended audience of such information. More importantly, some Major students are concerned that information shared within the Major group could potentially be forwarded or communicated outside the group. We believe that students should be able to use their course-specific academic group primarily for its intended purpose without unnecessary concerns about the circulation of internal discussions or information.
We would like to clarify that this petition is not against Minor Zoology students personally, nor is it intended to create conflict between Major and Minor students. Minor students are equally entitled to receive information relevant to their own course through the designated Minor Zoology group. Our concern is simply that the existing separation between the two groups should be respected.
Therefore, we respectfully request the concerned faculty members and WhatsApp group administrators to review the membership of the 3rd Semester Major Zoology WhatsApp group and ensure that only students officially enrolled in Zoology Major are included, unless there is a specific academic reason for someone else to remain in the group.
We also request that appropriate guidelines be established regarding the sharing and forwarding of course-specific information outside the designated academic group. This would help maintain confidentiality, prevent misunderstandings, and ensure that academic communication reaches the appropriate students.
We hope that the college authorities will consider this concern objectively and take a suitable administrative step so that the existing Major and Minor groups can function according to their intended purposes.
Our request is simple: the Major Zoology WhatsApp group should be limited to the students and faculty members for whom the group is officially intended.
