We demand the removal or resignation of Michael Iapoce as Commissioner of the Ulster County Department of Social Services.

DSS, as it's called, has been extremely mismanaged for years. 
But now, during the height of the homelessness surge due to the eviction moratorium ending, and housing becoming impossible to afford, DSS housing is full.  DSS is relying on Family of Woodstock for overflow.  Activists have heard many stories of folks being turned away by both DSS AND Family of Woodstock.  We are told by Mr. Iapoce that no one is being turned away but I will believe in those who are most vulnerable.

How was this able to happen?  Couple this with the constant complaints of employees, and, allegedly, the Commissioner himself, retaliating against any person who makes complaints or employs advocates, and we can see how broken the system is.

As a person who was once homeless I know this first hand.  It was a luxury back in 2016 during my period of homelessness compared to the absolute mess Michael Iapoce has allowed to occur.

This is nothing short of dereliction of duty.  Despite calls from activist communities to do something about the alleged abuse, neglect, and cruelty his employees regularly commit, nothing is being done.

Once more, we desire his resignation and an investigation into alleged human rights violations committed by his employees, on his watch.
