Make Masks Optional in LCSD #1

Make Masks Optional in LCSD #1

The Issue

The state of Wyoming has removed the mask mandate for our local community as of March 16th, 2021.  However, our K-12 students are still required to wear masks to attend public school, and there has been no communication about a timeline or a plan to move forward without masks in schools.

As of March 23rd, 2021 the vaccine has been offered to every teacher in the state. It is now time to put the power back into the hands of the people/parents.

At this point in time, we are asking the school board to apply for an exception to the K-12 mask mandate in Laramie County.  So far, ten school districts in Wyoming  have been successful in this feat.  The new ruling allows students and staff the option to choose whether to wear a face mask.

Please support our petition if you believe that parents should have the freedom and responsibility to make informed healthcare decisions for their children.

I will be making a public comment at our next school board meeting to encourage our district to apply for the variance or cease following the SMART plan. This petition will be provided to the superintendent and board members.

If a variance is not granted the next goal of this movement is to end the SMART plan requiring these restrictions on or by the last day of this school year and not let such restrictions carry into next year. As parents, we want clear expectations for the 2021-2022 school year.

You do not need to be a parent of a student to sign this petition, just a person who supports this mission.

Thanks for your help - it means the world to us and our children!

Mission statement: Gather 1,500 signatures from Laramie county residents who are in support of filing for an exception to the K-12 mask mandate in the Laramie County School system.
