In the time of the pandemic and online learning, millions of school-issued devices are handed out for free. What's the catch? Spyware and censorship.

Lightspeed Systems is one of the companies that sell this software to schools. It includes, but is not limited to, Classroom, and Filter Agent.

Classroom allows teachers to monitor students (aka spying) using Classroom (spyware)

Lightspeed Filter Agent blocks content that is "deemed harmful", which it does a bad job at.

It blocks websites that may be needed to teach, or do nothing wrong and are blocked because of AI.

AI shouldn't be used to block websites, because it could fail and block good websites.

It also promotes self censor, and doesn't feel like freedom in a land of freedom (the US)

All in all, we should ban Lightspeed Systems.
