Remove Jail Mental Health Diversion Center in Fort Worth

Remove Jail Mental Health Diversion Center in Fort Worth
The Issue
The Jail Mental Health Diversion Center at 812 Morphy St is causing significant issues in our community, especially around the Magnolia Street area in Fort Worth, TX. As a resident of this area, I am witnessing the negative impact this facility is having on local businesses and the community as a whole.
Numerous homeless individuals, often suffering from mental health issues, are released onto the streets, specifically around Magnolia and Morphy Street. This has created a challenging environment for local businesses, especially restaurants, that are already struggling with limited parking options for their customers. Patrons are increasingly reluctant to visit the area due to the difficulty in finding parking spots, combined with the presence of panhandlers and individuals who can often times be aggressive.
Businesses in this entertainment district are suffering as a result. It's not just about the convenience of parking, but also about ensuring a safe and welcoming area for everyone. Our community deserves a thriving and vibrant district free from these challenges, where people feel comfortable to enjoy their time in the restaurants and entertainment venues without the additional stress of dealing with aggressive behaviors and panhandling.
It's time to address this issue seriously. Relocating the Jail Mental Health Diversion Center to a more suitable location away from the heart of Fort Worth's dining and entertainment hub could alleviate these problems. This solution would not only benefit the business community but also provide a more conducive environment for those in need of mental health services, ensuring they get the support without being left on the streets.
Join us in urging the Tarrant county commissioner and
relevant authorities to remove the Jail Mental Health Diversion Center from its current location to protect and enhance the vitality of Magnolia Street. Sign this petition to support our local businesses and foster a safer, more inviting community for everyone.
