Remove Israel and KAN from Eurovision and the EBU

The Issue

Eurovision has always been a safe space for me, a place where diversity and inclusivity were celebrated without reservation. Each year, I looked forward to this event that united people from different cultures and backgrounds through the universal language of music. It was a symbol of harmony and togetherness—a rare beacon of hope in today’s fractured world. Yet, the inclusion of Israel, along with its national broadcaster KAN, has tainted these values.

Israel's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest is fundamentally incompatible with the very essence of this event. The country and its broadcaster have repeatedly flouted the ideals that Eurovision purports to stand for. I believe it’s crucial to draw attention to their disturbing track record, which aligns with actions deemed genocidal. The contest should not be used as a platform to legitimize or normalize such behaviors, but instead should represent a stand against them.

The Eurovision Song Contest has specific rules and ethical guidelines to uphold the spirit of the competition. These include regulations on human rights and ethical standards that every participating broadcaster and country must adhere to. A blatant violation of these rules is not acceptable. If Israel's participation continues, it undermines the credibility of the entire event and severely diminishes the values it claims to protect.

We cannot afford to stay silent when the very foundations of Eurovision are at risk. By allowing Israel and KAN to continue participating, we are complicit in disregarding human rights violations and failing to uphold the contest’s values. We need a fair and just Eurovision, where all participants reflect the peace and unity it seeks to promote.

I urge the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to take immediate action. Remove Israel and KAN from both Eurovision and the EBU to preserve the integrity and spirit of this cherished event. Please join me in signing this petition and let us stand for a Eurovision that is truly representative of unity, peace, and global respect.
