New Hanover County is under warrantless AI surveillance. Flock's automated license plate readers photograph every passing car — plate, make, color, location, time — and log it in a searchable, nationwide database. Not only in Wilmington, but across the county. No warrant. No suspicion. No way to opt out.

America protects its citizens' liberties; it does not track them like a scene from Orwell's 1984. These cameras record where you drive, worship, seek care, and gather — building a movement history of people accused of nothing. Public records show New Hanover's network has been searched millions of times, with every searching agency and officer redacted. We cannot see who is watching us, or why.

The evidence that mass surveillance reduces crime is thin. The evidence that it gets abused is not: officers across the country have used these systems to stalk, and federal agencies have tapped local cameras without local consent. Groups like the Electronic Frontier Foundation have documented the risks for years.

The New Hanover County Commissioners fund this program, and only they can end it. Sign to ask them to remove Flock AI cameras from New Hanover County — and protect the privacy of everyone who drives here.
