Remove FLATO from the Markham theatre.
The Issue
Flato Developments is part of the Greenbelt land swap scandal.
Flato has been named as one of the developers who lobbied the Ford government to remove land they owned from the Greenbelt.
Flato also received favourable treatment from the Ford government through Ministerial Zoning Orders (MZOs) and the York Region Official Plan.
The owner of Flato, Shakir Rehmatullah attended a Ford family “stag and doe” and wedding.
Rehmatullah met with Ford government ministers and officials in Las Vegas.
The Greenbelt scandal and presumably Flato’s role in it, are now being investigated by the RCMP regarding potential criminal wrongdoing.
Markham’s association with Flato is an embarrassment to the city government and its residents.
We demand that the City of Markham disassociate itself from Flato and that the name ‘Flato’ be removed from the Markham Theatre.
