Remove EDAPT from Nursing Courses at Chamberlain University
Chamberlain University has implemented the EDAPT learning program to the nursing classes and general education classes. These modules are split into categories and then split again into further categories. These modules contain subcategories that have been seen to be up to 10 tiles each. Tinley Park cohorts have been very vocal about these EDAPTs due to the amount of work this entails. Instructors have also admitted the fact that they have scaffolded these modules and have said they are time-consuming. It is extremely easy to scaffold a section because if one gets only 3 questions wrong, the student must repeat the module as well as do an extra supplemental module to make up for scaffolding the previous module. This makes the work week extremely difficult to complete. The combination of the amount of modules PER class and categories in addition to the complication of redoing the ones that we scaffold AND the supplemental module makes for a very frustrating experience especially because the program is already accelerated. The students have felt that to complete these modules, it takes time away from studying the actual material needed for the course. The EDAPT work each week can take up to 6 hours a day to complete (when adding up the time it takes one to read as well as answering the questions). There are an immense amount of times where some information on the modules does not match up to what is taught in class. The students of Tinley Park are requesting that EDAPTs be removed from the programs and replaced with interactive and useful work that matches the material taught in class. For example, at-home quizzes are better learning tools. Please work with the students of Tinley Park for this change as we feel we are entitled to the way we learn. Thank you.
