Dear friends, at the risk of being targeted because of my choice to expose a person in a position of power, I come to you with this petition.

If you are a member of the Deerfield community in Florida, you are already well aware of this Deputy, as his reputation proceeds him. If not, please take a moment to understand and listen.

I was recently the victim of an automobile vs pedestrian accident, where I was run over and dragged beneath a car. I was rushed to the hospital and found to have many fractures, a concussion, and skin abrasions. I was in a state of shock and was given morphine and fentanyl almost immediately because of the extreme pain. At some point while I was still being assessed, Leonard Seedig arrived at the hospital and began berating me with questions. Please note .. he was the second police officer to question me that night so this seemed unnecessary at best. Among some of the outrageous things he asked me, were these; ‘were you drunk when you were crossing the street??’ Or ‘are you currently on your prescribed medications? Because you’re acting really out of it’ and ‘why did you cross the street so slowly?? It’s almost as if you slowed down on purpose and that’s very suspicious.’ He would not take my word as an answer, he pulled my friends outside and questioned them, repeating ‘she seems really drunk right now.’

Overall, this deputy was condescending, unkind, and biased. He did his utmost to try and get me to admit to fault, though he eventually admitted he had already seen camera footage and I was not at fault. He snapped his fingers in my face, laughed when I made a quiet moan in pain, and joked about my injuries. He was entirely inappropriate in a time of vulnerability and innocence on my part, and he used his power as an officer to try and control a narrative he had invented.

There are many complaints filed against Seedig, all of which have been ignored by his department as of yet. I have many friends who have been the victims of his abuse of power, whether by wrongful arrests, verbal assault by Seedig, or unconstitutional practices. The list goes on and on.

We as the American people know our rights, and we have not forgotten that adage ‘innocent until proven guilty.’ It seems Deputy Seedig has. From what we have witnessed as citizens under the intimidation and power of Seedig, we see no compassion or care for the community on his end. Instead, we see a tyrant who feeds off of intimidation, fear, and terrorizing peaceful islanders. We see the neglect of integrity, the absence of accountability, and instead we see the law twisted for the Deputy’s personal gain.

We demand a change and we demand accountability for any person in a place of power who twists reality to form to their ideals.
