Remove dangerous dog from the complex of Independence Harbor in Edgewater NJ
The Issue
I’m a residing owner within the complex of Independence Harbor in Edgewater NJ and I need your help!
My dog’s life — and possibly your dog’s life — is in danger!!
Please help me protect my girl, Luna!
My next door neighbor, Mr. Garbuz, a tenant, is harboring a dangerous french bulldog, Bruno, that is intent on killing my senior chihuahua. Two attacks have occurred within 6 weeks of each other. The first was on 3/8/2025 and the second was 4/21/2025. I injured myself both times intervening. If I was slow to react, my dog would have been gravely injured.
Alarmingly, my neighbor does not believe his dog is dangerous — insisting “he’s friendly” and “not attacking”. The tenant’s non-residing girlfriend insists Bruno “is an angel”, “would never do something like that”, and “just wants to get close to her”.
Bruno gets loose either from his dwelling or breaks away from his handler. Both times we were blindly attacked, completely unprovoked. Moreover, between the two attacks there were ZERO measures taken to ensure safety. Mr. Garbuz is a partier and likes to have people over, going in and out of the apartment frequently. On Easter Sunday, 4/20/2025, the night before the second attack, if I was seconds too early and already in our shared hallway, there would have been yet another attack. Thankfully, I was able to quickly slam the hallway door leading to the vestibule in Bruno’s face.
I shouldn’t have to live with this constant threat and neither should you!
Bruno does NOT belong on this property. He is not a community friendly dog. The sheer force behind this animal mixed with his charging and lunging style will prove fatal to my fragile, 13 year old Luna, even if the dog is muzzled. I do NOT have time to wait to see if professional training might lessen the innate killer instinct he possesses.
Additionally, I cannot depend on Mr. Garbuz to be a capable, responsible caretaker. After all, he cannot acknowledge there’s a problem!
I will be submitting this petition to both his landlord and the Superior Court of New Jersey.
