Remove DA Robert S. Tew from Office

The Issue

In March 2019, Daniel Ross, a resident of Monroe, LA, hit and killed 15-year-old Ashley Dorsey with his vehicle in a tragic hit-and-run accident. This devastating accident should have been met with the full force of justice, especially given its preventable nature. Yet, District Attorney Robert S. Tew sentenced Ross to only four years of home detention, a punishment that grossly undermines the severity of his crime and the loss experienced by Sarah's family and community.

The leniency displayed in this case is not an isolated incident. In another example of inadequate prosecution, DA Tew chose to drop DWI charges against a local officer, rationalizing the decision by labeling the officer as a 'good guy.' Such actions demonstrate a concerning pattern of favoritism and lack of accountability, further eroding public trust in our legal system.

The role of a District Attorney is to represent the best interests of the community and uphold the law impartially and with integrity. Unfortunately, DA Robert S. Tew's recent actions indicate a failure to fulfill these responsibilities, calling into question his capability to serve the people of Ouachita and Morehouse Parishes effectively.

It's crucial for the justice system in Monroe, LA, and its surrounding areas to maintain public confidence. We must ensure that decisions are made with fairness and without bias, upholding the law in every circumstance, regardless of the individuals involved.

We believe that removing District Attorney Robert S. Tew from his position is an essential step towards restoring justice and fairness in our community. We call upon the relevant governing bodies to take action and hold DA Tew accountable for his decisions, as every citizen deserves a justice system they can trust.

Sign this petition if you believe in an impartial justice system that holds everyone accountable and respects the value of every life in our community.
