For a public official to use their position to intimidate law enforcement officers or anyone else representing the will of the people, is absolutely unacceptable. If Commissioner Samantha Steele were an average citizen, she most definitely would have faced severe punishment for her crimes. We cannot allow her to walk free of any penalty for her actions. Her employment by Cook County must be immediately terminated. We demand justice!

In an alarming breach of public trust, Commissioner Samantha Steele was recently charged with driving under the influence (DUI) in Illinois—a severe offense, especially for someone entrusted with upholding justice and safeguarding public welfare. Her actions did not only endanger countless lives but also eroded the respect and accountability expected from her position.

Instead of owning up to her mistake, Commissioner Steele  attempted to use her privileged status to dodge the consequences, openly disregarding the efforts of law enforcement officers and emergency medical services (EMS) who dedicate themselves to ensuring our safety. This behavior highlights an unacceptable abuse of power and a blatant disrespect for the law and those who enforce it.

Taxpayers' money must not be squandered on officials who prioritize their own interests above the community. According to Illinois state law, DUI offenders face severe penalties, and being a public servant should not exempt Commissioner Steele from facing similar repercussions. Her actions go against the very nature of her duties, rendering her unfit to continue holding office.

Illinois residents, especially those in Cook County, should be confident that their representatives are held to the highest standards. We demand that actions be taken to hold Commissioner Samantha Steele accountable for her DUI offense and her subsequent misconduct. For justice to be served and for public trust to be restored, Cook County must terminate her employment as Commissioner.
