That's why it pains me to see a sign reading “Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway” dominate a nearly one-mile stretch of Long Hollow Pike. The presence of this sign stirs discomfort and discord in our community, overshadowing a portion of the road meant to be a testament to the brave sacrifices of a Marine, and located at the crucial intersection where the Vietnam Veterans Blvd. comes to an end.

Charlie Kirk, a political figure known for his polarizing opinions, does not reflect the universal values of honor and community that we, as Gallatin residents, hold dear. The primary purpose of a 'memorial highway' is to act as a beacon of remembrance and respect for those who have served selflessly, not to honor political commentators whose views spur division rather than unity.
