Aggiornamento sulla petizioneRemove charity status from Destiny ChurchProgress, Decisions and a Timeline

Kia ora one. Kia ora all.

I hope that this finds you going well at the end of this week. There is much to be proud of about this petition. When I look at other petitions regarding the need to strip Destiny Church of its charity status, I see that there is still a lot of untapped public desire for action to be tapped into. I say this, with the petition now past 12,200 signatures.

There is more to be done though. The fact that this is still boiling after nearly a week, suggests to me that the anger over the conduct of Destiny Church may be at a critical mass where people just want something to happen. They are past the point of excuses and apologies, past the point where there is any realistic expectation that Destiny will improve. We now know that this is simply not how Destiny Church work and that waiting for them to be better is simply wasting time.

That is why I have been clear with my call to act. It is now.

And that brings me to my next point.

Towards the end of next week, I will make a decision about how much longer I am going to let the petition run and start working out the following stages. In doing so, I expect to reach decisions on who to approach, and the time line for trying to achieve a result. I want to act before the proverbial trail goes too cold and politicians move along - we can't afford to have this kind of thuggish behaviour happening, and especially not around children. Aside from being traumatising, it sends them completely the wrong messages about how one conducts themselves in public.

The timeline at this stage will probably be a couple of months. I won't be stopping the petition until March, and then I will need to export it to Excel and clean it up - i.e. make sure it is all legitimate, before finding out how to approach an elected representative to hand them the petition.

In the interim, please continue the great work that you have been doing. It means the world to me that so many people have put their name to this. We still need more donations, more conversations and more social media posts linking to this. Most of all, we need peoples names. 12,284 is a great number that can get better still.

In solidarity,

Rob
