The Issue

When you really need to go to the toilet, imagine having to wait for staff to come over and unlock the door with a badge. Sometimes, this can take 15 minutes or more, and it's just ridiculous. This is the reality at Leeds East Academy, where cameras and locks are installed on toilets, causing unnecessary delays and frustration to students like me who just want to use the facilities in peace and without hassle.

There's no reason for these invasive measures. Students are entitled to their privacy and the ability to access toilets when they need them without oversight or delay. These restrictions feel more like unnecessary disciplinary actions rather than legitimate security measures. Instead of fostering a respectful environment, they create an atmosphere of distrust and inconvenience.

Restroom access is a basic human necessity. It is about time that these unnecessary and outrageous restrictions are lifted to ensure that all students have timely and unfettered access to toilets. There are more effective ways to address any behavioral concerns without infringing on students' rights.

I believe that effective supervision and maintaining an open line of communication between students and staff would be more beneficial. The management could look into alternative ways of ensuring security without breaching privacy or limiting access.

Let us appeal to the administration of Leeds Easy Academy to reconsider these measures. By removing cameras and unlocking the doors, they can promote a more trusting and supportive environment. Let's make a change for the better. Sign this petition to show your support for removing cameras and locks from Leeds Easy Academy toilets.
