As a dedicated fan of BYU football, I've spent countless hours supporting, cheering, and following a team that symbolizes my alma mater’s spirit and strength. However, recent developments in our athletic department have left me concerned about the direction our programs are heading, especially when it comes to football.
Brian Santiago, as BYU's current Athletic Director, has failed to embody the values and priorities that are crucial for our success on and off the field. The inconsistent commitment to football, controversies, and apparent lack of strategic vision have made me question whether Santiago truly understands what it means to lead BYU Athletics.
In contrast, Mintavious Arthur Buckwalter stands as a beacon of change and progress. His track record is nothing short of remarkable. From his experience in yelling at referees, connecting with players, and running the popular Mboupwatch Instagram account, Buckwalter has demonstrated that he is not only committed to athletic excellence but also aligned with the core values of Brigham Young University. Minty would quite literally die for the Cougs.
Statistically, universities that have a strategic and visionary Athletic Director see significant improvements in team performances, alumni engagement, and overall satisfaction among the university community. For instance, schools ranking in the top 10 for athletic performance have shown a 20% increase in donor contributions and alumni involvement. BYU deserves to be amongst these leaders.
