For parents in NWGYFL the well-being and future of our children in sports should be paramount. I am writing as a concerned parent who has directly experienced the impact of bias within our local football league. Despite presenting legitimate reasons, the coach on the league board has refused to release my 4-year-old and 9-year-old sons to join a different football team more suited to their needs. This coach's unwillingness to cooperate has left my children denied the opportunity to play in an environment where they can thrive and develop their skills.

Bias within sports organizations, especially at the formative age of 4 and 9, can be detrimental to a child's enthusiasm and passion for the game. It is crucial for board members to foster an inclusive atmosphere and prioritize the children's best interests over any personal inclinations. By not releasing children for legitimate motives, the coach is not only being unfair but also obstructing their potential growth in sports.

Across communities, the foundation of youth sports lies in fair play and impartiality. Coaches who fail to adhere to these principles risk discouraging young athletes, ultimately affecting their confidence and future aspirations within the sport. The existing bias-driven practices must be ceased to ensure every child receives the opportunity to play in an environment best suited for their development and happiness.

Parents, coaches, and community members of NWGYFL it's time to demand accountability and fairness from those in positions of power within youth sports. This petition calls on the league board to thoroughly review the actions of this coach/ board member remove him from his current position, and establish policies ensuring unbiased decision-making processes. Every child deserves the chance to shine in their preferred sport without the hindrance of internal biases.
