REMOVE AUDREY THE ALPACA FROM SEMAPHORE PETS & GARDEN SHOP PEN!

REMOVE AUDREY THE ALPACA FROM SEMAPHORE PETS & GARDEN SHOP PEN!
The issue
Alpacas are herd animals. They obtain happiness and relationships from other alpacas around them, not doing well solo. Their ideal place of existence is in open spaces with other alpacas, paddocks or acreage where they also like to guard animals such as sheep. They are natural guarders and protect their flock well. Alpacas should be pasture fed at all times, supplemented with good quantities of hay, grains. Alpacas require clean and readily available water, with the potential to drink up to 4 litres per day.
Alpacas require yearly shearing in spring, to avoid the heat of summer which can cause stress and illness. This summer, Audrey still required shearing.
Audrey is an Alpaca that is living each day within the corner of a shop, used as a "cash cow" to bring in customers, with the expectancy of selling more goods.
Audrey is stuck in the rear corner of a retail garden store, Semaphore Pets & Garden. Her living space, day in day out, is approximately 3x4, 4x4. She is left with customers coming into the shop to view her, where she becomes stressed and anxious with the amount of children and adults crowding her area. Upon my visit to the store it was clearly evident that Audrey was displaying signs of a downcast anxiety. She displayed a lethargic, depressed attitude coupled with stiff, nervous movements. With flared nostrils, increased breathing and a drooping lower lip (sign of unhappiness and stress) it was clear the reaction to many individuals coming close to her was affecting her badly. There is even a sign upon the gate warning of "spitting" should people get close. Alpacas will spit in defense or nervousness, hardly the sign of a happy alpaca.
Audrey's area was such that she was standing and walking on top of her own urine and excrement. Alpacas will toilet in the same area, as noticed when in a healthy paddock environment, but with minimal space, and the stress of activity around her, Audrey literally had no option. This too will stress an alpaca.
As mentioned above, the clear, ideal and correct environment for an alpaca is not stuck within a makeshift pen in the corner of a heavy flow retail outlet. This is cruel, beggars welfare standards and is paramount to animal abuse.
Audrey the alpaca needs removing from this shop and placing with other alpacas where she can begin a wonderful and kind life deserving of an animal of her species. She is not an animal suited to her current abusive situation, nor is it fair that she be taken to a suburban backyard in West Lakes when not in the store.
AUDREY THE APLACA NEEDS YOUR HELP. AUDREY NEEDS TO BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY.
A place of agistment needs to be found where Audrey can happily live out her life within her own herd, doing what she wishes amongst other alpacas.
