For years, my high school has carried the burden of a divisive symbol that no longer represents who we are or aspire to be. As someone deeply invested in the integrity and spirit of my school, I have witnessed firsthand how our "Rebel" mascot continues to linger, even after efforts to mitigate its imagery. This has left us with a hollow representation that fails to unite the student body and uphold the inclusive values we strive for.
