Remove Amazon Returns from Staples Employees' Workload

The Issue

Working as a Staples employee has its challenges, but the inclusion of handling Amazon returns should not be one of them. Day in and day out, I see customers walking into Staples not with the intention to shop or browse but just to drop off their Amazon returns. This has become a significant part of our workload, and the majority of these customers simply retrieve their refund and leave, contributing nothing to our workplace.

It's a practice that is increasingly becoming unsustainable. Our employees are stretched thin having to manage these returns on top of their regular duties. The influx of these non-shopper customers not only adds unnecessary stress but also takes valuable time away from assisting our genuine Staples customers, who are there to support our store.

Staples as a brand is not reaping any financial benefit from hosting Amazon returns. In fact, it is leading to a loss as the labor hours spent could be redirected to improve sales and enhance customer service for our own products. Currently, about 90% of those who return Amazon packages walk out immediately after processing, without making any purchase. This initiative was intended to increase foot traffic, but it has primarily led to a workload increase without corresponding sales enhancement.

We need to rethink and revise this business practice. By removing Amazon returns from our responsibilities, Staples could realign its focus to better serve its own customers and invest in strategies that actually benefit our stores.

Sign this petition to urge Staples management to reassess the partnership and policies regarding Amazon returns. Help us restore our focus on making Staples a preferred destination for all customers looking for quality office supplies and technology. It's time to take action and address this problem before it worsens.
