Remove all Flock Cameras and ban AI policing in Blaine MN

The Issue

I'm writing this petition out of concern and personal experience with the use of Flock Cameras and AI policing in Blaine, MN. These technologies, while initially portrayed as tools for enhancing public safety, have unfortunately evolved into devices of surveillance, privacy invasion, and misinformation that negatively impact our community.

In Blaine, people have been subjected to undue scrutiny due to these AI-driven systems. Personal anecdotes have surfaced of innocent residents being wrongfully arrested, or caught in police crosshairs because of flawed data or inaccurate interpretations. Instead of making us safer, these technologies are breeding fear and distrust.

Flock cameras are essentially surveillance networks that keep tabs on citizens’ movements without consent or knowledge. While the intentions behind such technology may have been good, the reality is that they can be misused, leading to unnecessary police interventions and violating our civil liberties.

Moreover, AI policing algorithms have shown biases on numerous occasions. Studies indicate that AI systems in law enforcement can disproportionately target minority communities, leading to heightened tensions and mistrust between the police and the community they are supposed to protect and serve.

The situation in Blaine is a grim reminder that technology, while beneficial in certain contexts, can have severe implications if not monitored and checked. We must act quickly to ensure that these technologies do not govern our rights or freedom.

I urge the Blaine City Council and other relevant authorities to immediately remove all Flock Cameras and ban AI policing in our community. People’s privacy, safety, and trust in law enforcement should not be compromised.

Please sign this petition to demand action against this invasive and unjust use of technology in Blaine. Together, we can promote a safer environment that truly respects the rights and dignity of all residents.
