Removal of parish pastor

Removal of parish pastor
The Issue
To Whom It May Concern,
We, the undersigned members of St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church, respectfully request the immediate removal of Fr. David Hogan from his current position as our parish pastor. Recent developments within our parish community have compelled us to conclude that Fr. David Hogan is not the right leader to guide our parish towards growth and success.
Significant changes and challenges have arisen in the past year. These events have caused considerable concern and distress among our parishioners. Specifically:
- Our principal and five other staff members resigning in one year have created significant uncertainty within our grade school. While there is potential for new leadership and greater stability, it hangs in the balance after recent developments that can only be characterized as reckless.
- The imminent threat of losing our highly valued preschool director, Mrs. Michele Snyder, whose three decades of unwavering loyalty and service have been pivotal to the success and stability of our parish's educational programs, as well as our assistant director, Mrs. Erin Lawrence and her 27 years of dedicated service.
We firmly believe that Fr. David Hogan does not understand or appreciate who we are as a parish and the unique strengths that we possess as a community. His current direction does not provide our parish the best opportunities to grow, thrive, and remain united. In light of ongoing mergers and closures of parishes in our area, strong and effective leadership is more crucial than ever. We are deeply concerned that under the present leadership, our community is not being led in a direction that ensures our long-term success and spiritual well-being.
We understand the gravity of this request and have approached this matter with careful consideration and reflection. Our goal is to ensure that our parish can continue to grow in faith and fellowship under leadership that aligns with our values and strengths.
We kindly ask Fr. Scott Jones, Vicar of the North Vicariate, to take our concerns seriously and work to appoint a new parish priest who can guide us with wisdom, kindness, integrity, and understanding. We are hopeful that with your support, our parish community will be able to heal and move forward in a positive direction.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter and prayers during this time.
Sincerely,
St. Simons Parishioners
