First order of business remove the racial category of Hispanic and Latino out of the census. Reason being those labels are not a racial category. Second order of business expand the definition of American Indian to include mestizos and other mixed race ethnic groups like for example the Afro indigenous people of the Americas.  By removing those two “racial categories” , it will help incentivize people to self identify with their indigenous heritage as American Indians of the Americas regardless of region. This will include North , central and South Americans with indigenous roots.
