Removal of Confederate Statue

Removal of Confederate Statue
The Issue
The Confederate statue in the Glasgow town square should be removed, as it stands for a dark time period in American history. It does little to truly represent the rich history that Kentucky holds, and for many stands as a symbol of bigotry and racism. The Confederacy felt strongly enough about the ability to own Black persons that they left the United States and waged a war to protect that right. We owe it to our Black residents to show that we not only do we care about them, but respect the terrible journey that they and their ancestors have had to traverse to be Americans, and I personally feel the removal of this statue is a great start. We no longer need to be a divided nation, we are the United States of America and we should be united against social injustice.
