Remaster Star Trek: DS9 and Voyager in high definition
The Issue
First and foremost, if you want this as bad as I do, and you're here, so I know you do,
You can write Paramount here. www.paramount.com/contact-us
or Paramount's home video department

If you write them, ask nicely, frame them as the heroes who can save the day, they’re the only ones who can.
We have to tell them that we want it.
"Every Comic book is someone's first comic book." This quote, whose origin I can't quite recall—be it from Kevin Smith or Joe Quesada—profoundly resonates with me and echoes into the world of Star Trek. For me, the journey into the beloved Star Trek universe began with the reruns of "Deep Space Nine" (DS9) and "Voyager" at a young age. This early introduction was my gateway into a universe that expanded into the iconic realms of James T. Kirk, Spock, Captain Picard, and beyond. Without these series, I might not have ventured into the corners of the galaxy so lovingly designed by its creators—spaces of limitless exploration and deep emotion.
However, today, DS9 and Voyager remain trapped in 480i—a resolution far removed from their creators' intent. Unlike the revitalized presentations of TOS, TNG, and more recent entries in the Star Trek franchise, DS9 and Voyager need a demand a new transfer from their original camera negatives to reach their full potential.
The artists behind them intended these series to stand the test of time.
Yet, despite their monumental storytelling and compelling characters.
A high-definition scan, a new transfer from the film negatives, is a promise—a commitment to preserving the visual integrity of content for generations to come.
By neglecting DS9 and Voyager, we fail to honor the craft that went into these series. Many of us fell in love with Star Trek through these very shows, and others could too if only they had the same opportunity to see them at their best.
Ideally, the remaster would be sourced from a 4k scan of the Original Camera Negative, and there's good news, a good chunk of VFX assets survive for DS9 and Voyager, so the CG doesn't all have to be created from scratch. The Original VFX artists archived it.
Now is a pivotal moment: the 60th anniversary of Star Trek, the 35th-anniversary of DS9, and the 30th anniversary of Voyager. What better way to celebrate these milestones than by giving these series the comprehensive remaster they deserve?
This call to action is more than aesthetic; it supports inclusivity by suggesting additional audio descriptions and remastered soundtracks. In our embrace of modern technology, let's ensure that the vision of Star Trek's creators from decades ago is realized in its entirety today.
Please, join me in urging Paramount to prioritize a high-definition remaster of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Voyager.
