I am a parent with a child attending Macduff Primary School and I believe OPDEnergy battery energy storage system (BESS) location at Deyhill is closer to nearby populated areas than is safe or comfortable. Our concern is not the use of the BESS technology; we understand its benefits in terms of sustainable energy. Our concern is the vicinity of the BESS to our school and residential estates, a mere 90 meters away.

Deyhill isn't the only place where OPDEnergy  can implement this. There are more suitable locations where the costs could still be viable but in locations distanced from schools, residential estates and the natural beauty of water springs.

There are dangerous precedence of BESS fires, specifically in Liverpool and Ireland, a risk we simply cannot take with our children and in our residences being so near. We are not objecting against OPDEnergy or the BESS; we are requesting a prudent consideration of its location.

It's important that Macduff, UK, remains a safe environment for all its residents. A timely intervention will ensure the technological benefits OPDEnergy brings, does not threaten our landscape or people's welfare.
