Relocate the bio-CNG plant planned to be set up near Crossings Republik, Ghaziabad.

The Issue

It is funny how clean air has now become a luxury

All of us dream of living in a house whose windows open to fresh, healthy, non toxic air. 4 years ago, it was in pursuit of this dream that me and my family shifted to Crossing Republik from Vaishali, Ghaziabad. The rotting mountain of waste in the Ghazipur landfill was impossible for us to live next to. We couldn’t step out without smelling the stench, we couldn’t open our windows without feeling nauseous. The toxic air ruined our air purifiers and caused pipe leakages. The poisonous gases made everyone sick, especially my 7 year old son. We would end up at the pediatrician’s clinic every second day!

We shifted to Crossings Republik so that our son could lead a healthy life. But to my utter disappointment, we might soon have a landfill coming up near Crossing Republik too! The government plans to set up a waste processing cum bio CNG plant in the area. The proposed plant will be very close to residential areas, putting those around it, under severe threat.

It is not only about my son but the lives of thousands of us living here will become hellish with 300 tons of wet waste coming daily in this proposed plantSign this petition and demand that the proposed plant be shifted to a more appropriate location, far away from residential areas.

Similar plants have been set up in other cities as well, but they are far away from residential areas. For example, Indore's plant is 11 km from the population, and the Chennai plant is located in an industrial area 25 km away.

In the tender for this proposed plant, the Solid Waste Management Policy mentions the Uttar Pradesh Solid Waste Management Policy, according to which the land for the Waste Management Plant will be determined as per Rule 11 of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 and as per Rule 11(6) After determining the land, it is mandatory to put it in the master plan, which has not been done yet and cannot be done because according to the master plan it is a population / township. On this basis, the tender appears to be illegal.

Where do citizens go for clean and fresh air? Citizens of Delhi, NCR are already bearing the burden of severe air pollution. Sign this petition, so that this burden is not multiplied.
