Relocate One Metal Detector to the North Entrance of Rock Bridge High School

Relocate One Metal Detector to the North Entrance of Rock Bridge High School
The Issue
Hi, I'm Gilbert! I am a student at Rock Bridge High School. Currently, to get inside from the Career Center or to get in at all, we have to walk around the entire building to the front entrance to get inside. This time-consuming route especially challenges those of us taking Career Center classes, often making us late. Most students, including myself, must enter through the North entrance due to its proximity to the Career Center and parking lot. Thus, having a metal detector at this entrance will not only ensure safety but also maximize efficiency for our learning environment.
This change will benefit us greatly, and make less people late to class. We have all the resources to do this.
Most of us are tired of dealing with this system, often times, we are late because we leave from the Career Centre to late, the alarm system goes off. And then the security persons take forever to handle our items, most often they demand we remove something from our bag or just manhandle it. Most times when I go through, they are also disrespectful to students. Once, I went through and the alarm went off, the security person the proceeded to empty my bag and would not let me leave until we found the specific item, which was an iPad, he then would not give me back my stuff unless I looked at him and listened to why I need to take it out. This made me late to class.
On another occasion they yelled at a student for using their knee to open a door because their hands were full, they disrespected this student and had no reason to.
So, this is a call to school administrators: please relocate one of the metal detectors to the northern entrance of our school. This small change will greatly improve the daily routines of many students and make our school a safer, more convenient place to learn. Please sign this petition to support the relocation of the metal detector and uphold the welfare of the student body.
