As threatened local business owners and concerned citizens we write this petition in regards to the extremely large homeless encampment developing on WSDOT property in the City of Wenatchee because of new direction from the Northwest region of WSDOT making it unlawful to remove homeless encampments from their property. As long as there are no safety risks or damages to WSDOT property, people are free to set up camp for as long as they like. But what about the damages done to the property of local businesses surrounding the encampment. Since the start of the encampment Halverson Auto Body, Enterprise Rent a Car, Platt Electric, Jacks Motorsports and Grays Electric have had a handful of windows broken out of customer and rental vehicles, nightly vehicle prowls, countless thefts, multiple break ins and loss of potential income. Every one of these businesses has had to take money out of their own pocket to secure their businesses and property from the people living in this encampment,  when before this was hardly an issue. We understand that homelessness is a problem in our community and believe that it needs to be addressed but not at our expense.
